Is CMH your home base? For domestic travel on AA, BA Avios can be very good for nonstop or direct flights. But since BA charges for each flight flown, for domestic travel involving connecting flights, AAdvantage miles (or Iberia Plus Avios) will typically provide better value.
Credit-card sign-up bonuses can provide lots of AA or BA miles, if you are willing to get one or more new cards, and can meet the minimum-spend requirements.
Tell us a little more, and we can provide better advice.
Travel would most likely be domestic economy. I have no specific routes in mind as of now, this would just be for some unspecified future use.
I usually fly out of CMH, DAY, or CVG, although I did use avios to fly OAK-OGG this summer (this would not be the norm).
As for credit cards, I am not interested in anything specifically earns BA or AA miles. I might be interested in cards that can transfer to these programs (is there even one for AA?), but am not really looking for anything at this time. Meeting minimum spend is no problem (unfortunately). Thanks.
