Called Marriott last night, they resolved problem in ~8 minutes
Just thought I'd report a positive story. After alternating being disgusted and annoyed with Marriott the past few months, I finally broke down and called them last night about a missing Chase Cat 1-5 certificate. Was on hold no more than 2 minutes, then a polite young man answered and fixed my problem (e.g. made the certificate show up on my end so I could use it) quickly. Went online, booked said certificate in NEW YORK (midtown Manhattan!!) on a Cat 5 for a Courtyard that was $700 for cash rate. I will say, the new valuation of properties definitely helped New York in some aspects, formerly there was no such thing as a Cat 5 in the city. Anyway, let's hope this means they're finally getting their act together! I hope they are because I've been a longtime Marriott supporter and I'd like to go back to being their cheerleader!
