I also gave up after 2 tries. Considering the grandfathered $350AF and the huge retention bonuses I've gotten in the past, I figured it was worth preserving my ability to xfer to airlines. Next year will be a tougher sell, unless I end up using the 5X categories or 4NF more than expected. If they don't pony up an offer in fall '19, I'll probably downgrade and churn -- will be eligible for new signup offers (hopefully Premiere) by then.

Also remains to be seen how long the AT&T gravy train keeps going. So far I've continued to get the 35K TYP offer every year running. If that dries up, it may be time for me to leave the TYP ecosystem. Right now, looks like the best way to exit my position would be to xfer most of the balance to JetBlue and cash out the rest via "mortgage".
