Worry not , (a) you are allowed it and (b) If you put only one bag ( even a max sized bag ) you will no doubt be putting up less than most other pax.
You wait until it gets really cold and every other person is wearing one of those huge puffer style coats ( they are particularly popular in Spain for some reason )...
