Sheraton MAY add an extra reservation when they are processing a major room upgrade, like to a premium suite. That you can clearly see when you log in and check out that new confirmation # .... it will show something like: : MOD USE ONLY. EXEC COMM/RM APPROVAL NEEDED
This is what I had for the Toronto Sheraton a few weeks ago.
But not in my case - the HOTEL system could only see 1 reservation - thus if I hadn't looked and caught it it is possible that MARRIOTTS system could maybe have charged me without the hotel knowing?
Also cancel was showing 1 night cancel policy while hotel said 3 nights - who know how that would have worked out
