) book some paid upcoming flights in F & J with EK & wanted to maximize points earning on these flights, hence the "match" - I wanted maximize redeemable points. These flights will earn just short of 25,000 miles so I assume I will get about around 6,000 "silver miles" in addition. All helpful towards burning on an F reward at some point. EK run a tight programmme
You also have the option of matching to Alaska if you have status with anything that competes with North American flights. The redeemable miles from AS are kind of insane, if you were Alaska Gold you'd get in the neighborhood of 80k miles for J and more for F for the same 25k flown miles, and EK award redemptions using AS miles are still relatively cheap compared to how expensive they are on EK.
I flew 100k miles on EK in J last year and accrued 360k+ of AS miles - enough for 1 return in EK F to Australia/NZ from the US, not to mention the redemption possibilities on QF, BA, CX and others. I think the earnings would have been in the neighborhood of 150-200k as I progressed through EK's levels. I only started crediting to EK as I've pretty much maxed out my status with AS and I need to credit tier miles elsewhere...
