I had a lengthy discussion with front desk clerk at checkout about room and suite locations.

I was upgraded (from St. Regis suite) to Caroline Astor suite (18th floor). The CA is absolutely spectacular, one of the nicer rooms I've ever had. They are on the front of the building on the corner, with full on views of the sports club from the bathroom and bedroom, as well as up Wireless Road toward Central World from the living room and bedroom. The only issue is you get traffic noise from Wireless Road and BTS in the bedroom, as the windows are single paned.

The St. Regis suites are on the top floors (24 & 25), with views over the pool to the sports club. They are not on the corners. Living room and bathroom have the same view. The Metropolitan suites are on the rear corners. They do not have views of the sports club. The Grand Deluxe rooms face the sports club. Some front Wireless Road, others overlook the pool. The 07 rooms are on the corner, overlooking the pool, and are considered "enhanced" rooms.

I was really impressed with the hard product. Loved the pool. Also appreciated that the hotel is not overrun with tour groups from the mainland (which SGS unfortunately was my two nights prior). Overall, I felt the service was slightly less warm and a bit more forced than SGS, but still very good.

If you take the house car to the airport, they have attendants who meet the car and escort you to check-in and then security. I felt this was a nice personal touch.
