Mrs secondsoprano and I have two 8 hour layovers in HEL - one in mid-November during the day, and one in mid-December between 1530 and midnight. We have never been to Helsinki before and are unlikely to go again.

First leg, I assume 8 hours is plenty of time to get the train into the city, coffee, check out a gallery or two, maybe the rock church, maybe a ferry to the fortress island, then back to the lounge for a bite to eat.
Second leg, I'm thinking it's cold and dark and maybe not leaving the airport at all has a lot going for it? Or am I being too much of a wuss? (I mean, presumably life goes on in winter, but I am Australian, so have barely ever seen snow, much less attempted to travel in it)

Thoughts, ideas, suggestions much appreciated.
