It is rare a week doesn't go by when a cleaner (usually female) doesn't enter a toilet (washroom) I am using in Japan. And any time I stay at hotel with a public bath it is more often than not a woman that comes throught the locker room to collect towels and straighten things out.
Indeed. Among other places, I've experienced both of the above in the HND International terminal and Conrad Osaka, which generally cater more to foreign visitors than some random restroom, yet there it was. A bit unsettling the first time I experienced it, but the workers are focused on their work and not on gawking.
