So my AF is coming up in a week or so (2nd year--1st was waived). Initially I called for a retention offer on the personal gold, but was told none. I asked on the business gold and was told $50 statement. I asked if there was anything in pts as I would be interested in that over $50. Rep tells me 2,000 upfront and another 5,000 after spending $3k w/in 90 days. I'm not sure if this is weak, average or what as I've never asked Amex for retention offers (new to Amex last year). I don't spend much on my business gold (aside from the initial $5k for sign up bonus, I would say I've spent maybe $2k this year for a total of $7k). So is the 7,000 total bonus pts on $3k spend w/in 90 days on the weak, reasonable or plus end? Thanks!
