Alternatively would there be a big downside in disbanding your HHA, for the minimum 6 months. If you have the plenty of avios in your own name (or another member's name) to make any redemptions you intend in that period, disbanding the HHA would free your hand in regards to the Partner Card. (Potentially complicated if you have under 18s in your HHA.)
Hi Paul, I wasn't sure how this would work but thought it worth a go. So I rang and asked if I could disband my HHA and whether that would solve things, as I don't really have many Avios at all at the moment to lose, but they say I don't have a Household Account to disband. But they also said that if I did have one and disbanded it, it wouldn't make any difference.

I have now looked up Household Accounts but I don't think this really applies to me as this seems to be for people where there are several members living at the same address. My 'family members' are just relatives with whom I travel, it is not a set of people living together.
