I'm guessing the following situation was set up differently--or I lucked out big time.

I was teaching at a weekend conference at a Doubletree. Two rooms (one a comp in which I stayed), banquet, and meeting facilities were on the folio, which the conference director paid on checkout. I put my number on my room, to which all charges were linked. I received points for the entire bill, plus my gold bonus, plus another bonus that was running at the time.
