Anyone have any idea's on upgrade options for an American codeshare operated by Air Berlin? One rep had said that as long as its an AA flight number, then I could use upgrade options. I just got off the phone with another rep (2 days later), and they say I can't use System Wide Upgrade because its not AA metal, and I can only use Miles to upgrade on British Airways or Iberia (which also has be worried, because I'm also trying to upgrade a JAL operated AA codeshare that I specifically picked a route to Singapore around because they said I could upgrade). Short of paying a few thousand, any other options? I've used miles and cash on Cathay Pacific before, so not sure if this is a recent change or I was just very lucky with CX.
