If any of your flights change by 90 minutes or more you can call and ask to change to a more convenient flight(s), no charge. I think its 90 minutes but I don't believe that's a hard rule albeit AA probably won't allow you to change flights with something like a 15 minute schedule change. In theory AA should always email you with any schedule change but in reality you should monitor your reservation every couple weeks to see if flight times have changed.

I was thinking maybe could try doing a Same Day Schedule Change (for a fee) but IIRC that might be for domestic flights only. Also you likely would be split up in seating even if there was enough seat inventory available on the earlier flight.
