No, I did not miss the point. The agent asked you whether she could transfer you to a sales pitch and you agreed.
Had you said no or just hung up, that would have been the end of it.
You have to take personal responsibility for having agreed to listen to a sales pitch. The more people who do what you did, the more Hilton and other chains will continue to do it.
