I don't know about Certs but on my points bookings, I put my buddy down as a guest and will call the hotel a hour before he checks in just to let them know I am going to be late. Sometimes I actually show up sometimes I don't. He has always checked in and they never ask me if I ever arrived. Now a Cert I don't know how that works.
