I'm glad I did complain a second time as I did get some compensation, so value the advice of the 'usual suspects' to go back and further it. Should note that this is the first complaint I have made to BA in 6 years of regular flying with them.
It is of course your option to complain and I’m glad you got the Avios you wanted by complaining for the second time, Having been unaware of the sleeper nature of the service at the time of booking.
My comments with regards to the usual suspects is a pure observation that you complained and initially receive a satisfactory response in your own eyes, where you felt the virtues of your complaint BA were looking to address. Subsequently, after some posts you revised that opinion and decided to pursue the complaint further and in doing so received some Avios compensation. As I made clear I don’t think you complained in order to just get some Avios, but I can see others on here and know of others on other forums and elsewhere who would and do regularly find fault in order to earn Avios. This is of course not confined to BA or indeed aviation.
i can only express my personal view; knowing that the food onboard wouldn’t be to my expectations, I would have probably found an alternative and got longer sleep on the flight rather than having an un-enjoyable flight and the hassle of complaining after for a few Avios. YVMV of course, and as I said, it is fantastic that you received the compensation you wanted and deserved. I’ve not used that lounge so I will of course note that for you, the lounge wouldn’t meet your needs either.
Hopefully BA will update the booking process and list, but I’m sure this isn’t a quick change, particularly for the former that may indeed require software reprogramming updates, and we are all aware of the challenges BA faces with their old IT infrastructure.
