Well appointed rooms and great location
Location The hotel is located in the CBD area of Auckland. It is takes about 10 mins to walk to the SkyTower and about 15-20 mins to the Britomart/Harbour area. There are lots of different shops and restaurants around the hotel. The best is the Airport SkyBus stops in front of the hotel (or opposite the street of the hotel when coming from AKL). Check In I arrived very early, around 7 am (already tried to spend as much time at the airport after the super early morning arrival) and as expected there were no other guests at the front desk. I was not hoping much to get a room that early but I was surprised that they were so nice to manage to find a room for me that early. I was off to my room after of less than 15 mins arriving at the hotel. Friendly staff whom recognized my (new) status after the merger and already had the key card reflecting the new status. Room I was not told, but I believe I was upgraded to a corner room which I later found out seems to be much more spacious compared to the other rooms. Since the hotel is fairly new, this was certainly reflected in the condition of everything in the room. I liked the deco of the room which was modern and contemporary yet functional. In fact to me it seems more like a Renaissance or Marriott level than a Four Points. The room had lots of windows which helped the room to be bright and airy. The bathroom too had lots of windows with wooden shutters. The room had a partial view towards the SkyTower. Bathroom was spacious with a standalone bath tub and also a walk in shower. Everything was very well appointed with good water pressure and temperature control.Wifi was worked well, stable and sufficiently fast for normal online activities. The bed was very comfortable and very good temperature control. Facilities in the room included coffee and tea making and a iron and ironboard. Sound isolation seems to be quite good from both outside and from the hall ways or next door room (not sure if it was occupied - but heard nothing)Only small complain would be the TV selection/channels which seems to be rather moody at times and quite a number of channels did not seem to have any signal. Was not bothered too much about this since I was there to watch TV. Dining I chose Breakfast as my Elite choice, and the offerings was good. It was an open buffet with eggs to order. Quality and choices were good. As usual in this part of the world, anything other than normal coffee or tea, you will have to pay extra - thought well worth it for a good cup of Barista made coffee.I had a look at the bar menu and prices seems reasonable for a hotel, though I did not partake in this during my stay. Service Very friendly staff of all levels. Had only a 1 night stay here, but the room when I entered was very well cleaned and everything was in order. Both front desk and breakfast room staff were friendly and helpful. Overall This has to be one of the best Four Points property that I've stayed in so far. Very high quality with friendly staff. The hotel seems to have every thing to cater for both the tourist and the business traveller with good recognition of Elite members.
