There is no better way than going to the Skymiles' website under the 'What can I do with my miles today' section. It is a very clear and comprehensive system that will give you better answers than any of us on this forum. Everything depends on where (which country) you want to use your miles from and what kind of products. You surely can get a small upgrade on a local route if you depart from Dubai.
