I eat out quite a bit - in fact, my refrigerator at home has only beer and hot sauce in it. However, it seemed to be a pain to have to go to mpdining website and find a restaurant and plan my meals to hit restaurants where I'd earn points.

After a long night of drinking during a business trip to Atlanta this weekend, I went to a hole-in-the-wall diner at the Days Inn at 4am with a group of people. The service sucked but the food was great considering it was the only place open at 4am on a Sunday morning.

Always the points whore, I offered to pick up the check with my Amex.

Today, I got an email from Mileage plus dining telling me I had earned 870 miles at the City Cafe Diner.

That, my friends, is the value of MP Dining - getting miles for doing stuff that you'd be doing anyway, including having a spur of the moment drunken meal at 4am with ten of your friends.
I find myself being very generous, as well, when eating on a restaurant participating under the Mileage plus dining: "This restaurant gives miles, so order a dessert, and give me the check!"
