Basic Economy and Travel Waiver

Before I get the "you get what you paid for" line, figured I'd ask to see if there's a way out since the search function didn't yield anything fruitful:

Scheduled to fly Destin/Ft Walton Beach to DC (VPS-DCA) today on a Basic Economy fare, but need to stay back and prepare my home for Hurricane Michael. VPS and a few other Gulf Coast airports are under the current travel alert, enabling date changes up to Oct 13th, or cancel and apply any unused value toward the purchase of a new ticket within 1 year of the original ticket date (with applicable fare difference).

I'm trying to go for Door #2 (cancel + get store credit) since my trip will be moot if I go later in the week (my meeting is tonight/tomorrow, but tomorrow's VPS-DCA flight has already cancelled). 3 reservations agents I spoke to this AM will only offer the date change option up to the 13th and no more, even though the travel advisory allows for the store credit option. Today's VPS-DCA flight is still scheduled to fly, and as a "precaution" I went ahead and cancelled the ticket...b/c if I didn't do it and the flight still winds up going I'm most likely more SOL as that can be chalked up to a missed flight.

Any recourse on getting store credit/flight pushed beyond Oct 13th for this BE fare? Or am I SOL? Already put in a request to Customer Relations for store credit...we'll see how that goes.
