To those who are talking about losing 1 inch in width, you absolutely notice it in the shoulders. That's actually worse than losing 1 inch of pitch, assuming you aren't already down to 31" pitch already. I notice a 34 vs 33 a lot, lot less than I notice an 18 vs 17 width.
I avoid 777's whenever I know I'm going to be in a Y- cabin. 787's get the edge simply because it's a better ride and a smaller plane. If I'm traveling with one other person, there's usually a few pairs of seats in the back where the fuselage narrows to 2x3x2.
I prefer 767s in both Y and J, but they're getting harder to find.
