As it is now the 10/9 FRA-CLT is scheduled on a 332, and is down to J2, so it's highly unlikely that there would be any buy ups offered to business at check-in.

If the equipment were to get changed to a 333 it'd be a good news bad news situation. The bad news is there would be no PE, so you'd be moved to economy and would have to get a refund from AA. The good news is that switching to a 333 would add a bunch of extra business inventory, so depending on the upgrade list etc. it's at least a little more likely there could be buy-ups offered.
