I'm doing MAN-DXB-BKG and return for a holidayin a few weeks' time. I'm tempted to try out the Non-Vegetarian Hindu meal on a couple of legs just because:
- It's a Friday evening flight from Manchester and I am literally going straight from work to the airport. I imagine I am going to be knackered and will just be wanting to sleep as much as possible on the flight.
- Flight departs at 8.35pm, realistically with a bit of delay on the ground and my luck in always ending up sat in the place in the cabin which gets served last, it will be 10 - 10.30pm time at origin before I get food on my tray
- At least with a special meal you get served first so more time for sleeping
On the other hand:
- You have to wait with all your rubbish on your tray until everyone else has been served and finished their normal meals before the cabin crew clear all the trays so not really that conducive for sleeping
- Potential strange looks and food envy from your seat mate.
I know the sensible thing to do would be to eat before the flight and decline the meal offered on board but then there is the silly rationale of' 'I paid for a flight which includes a free airline meal so I am going to eat it no matter what silly time of day they offer it to me!'.
