Very, very frustrated. I'm Gold Elite with CO. We are planning to go to Hawaii on or about July 28, 2005 from Newark. Called CO today to get details on exactly which day I could call and secure the upgrade. Elite agent was very non-commital - "call the end of August". Then told me that I wouldn't get it! Said I would get the Coach seat and be wait-listed for the upgrade - that none are released this early. Asked about just using points for First Class seats - supposedly 75,000 per seat. Said I'd have to pay 150,000 because no standard rewards would be released.

Questions:
1. Does she know what she's talking about???
2. If I do go ahead, book Coach and get wait-listed for the upgrade, what are my chances of getting it if I do it early and am Gold Elite?
