At any rate, are you aware that if you close the previous card, any points earned with it will expire in 60 days, no matter what other TYP cards you have, no matter where you moved those points? So unless you've used up all the points from previous card, instead of cancelling the previous card, downgrade it to the no-AF Preferred, that's the one thing which keeps the points alive at zero ongoing cost. (Just remember to use the Preferred at least once or twice a year, to avoid Citi cancelling it for "inactivity", as they like to do.)
Yes ,thanks for clarification. Citi TYP Premier card. Quick data point, I applied for new Citi TYP Premier card and got approved while still holding the other card from 3 years ago. So, I should be eligible for bonus since I have had this card for 3 years without cancellation. Plan to downgrade the other Citi TYP Premier card to no AF preffered to keep my points alive. One question, is points still same value as Citi TYP Premier card. Thanks to everyone for the advice.
