This is what they are telling us:

As a reminder, members who achieve Lifetime status through either the legacy Marriott Rewards, Ritz-Carlton Rewards, or SPG as well as the one-time offering of Platinum Premier Elite Lifetime status (750 nights and 10 years at Platinum Elite Status) will be reflected in the members account in January 2019, as we will perform a year-end true-up for this subset of members."
But, I am not giving anyone any advice on when to merge their accounts. That is a decision that you as an individual will have to make.
