What is the "New Deal" with upgrade point levels?

I am now going to start buying AN tickets now I've changed from using QF points for totally free tickets. (But what the heck do I do with my zillion Amex MR points tho now?! And before getting any friendly advice from US folks, in OZ you can ONLY use MR points via QF)

The AN scheme is all new to me, and I want to buy the tcikets so as to get Star * miles into UA now the silly 30 day rule is gone.

I have a Westpac Gold Visa from Ansett, so I can easily earn AN points. With those card points, I want to buy upgrade certs to u/g the paid tix.

I only used one before SYD-ADL which cost 1500 points which was cheap I thought. Now they tell this is all being revamped to different point/zone levels. (Darn!)

Does anyone know what OLD point levels were, and what NEW ones are/will be? And it seems to vary from full Y to discount coach?

Thanks. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
