Hi Ericka! We were there from 8/20 - 8/26. We alternated days between the Sea Shell and Beach Tree pools and we didn't have any problems finding chairs at any time during our stay. For example, we arrived at around noon on 8/20 and went straight to Beach Tree pool, and we found plenty of space even while arriving at prime time.

The end of our our stay did overlap with the threat of Hurricane Lane... luckily other then some scattered showers it was really a non issue at the resort. I am sure the Lane threat kept some people away and on two days while we were there it felt like we had the resort ourselves.

The snorkeling in the ocean was great, and my son was able to do it. There is a runway of sand bags that have been laid down over the lava rock to make entering and exiting the ocean pretty easy. The ocean front relaxation lounge, where you get the snorkeling gear, is also a hit with the kids... it is fully stocked with complimentary candy, ice cream, sodas, juices, and snacks.
