You obviously don't remember B6 when it was ran by Neeleman and Barger. It wasn't perfect but they at least cared about their passengers and employees. The new Hayes led B6 cares only about shareholders.
Unfortunately that B6 couldn't make money after labour cost creeped up. And this B6 does much better financially.
The greatest contribution of B6 to NYC aviation is keeping fares low so many routes. Without mint on SAN/LAS/SEA, we'd still see those ridiculous $1500 O/W FC fares on DL. And we wouldn't get service to so many places that legacies simply can't support with their cost level. And their economy product is still easily the best in the country. And imo best in the world (I've flown a lot of airlines in Asia and Europe)
