By looking at all the great fares from US/EU-Asia or backwards, it is going to be a uphill battle for CX if they don't match the prices of SQ.(All the SIN-NYC/or the other way around) All the PEY fares are going to compete so hard against CX. If CX don't match them, I don't know how they are going to sell the PEY seats at 2k when US3 and the great SQ have prices around 1-1.4k USD.

Funny to see SIN-EWR SQ PEY is only $1.2k USD RT. Maybe CX can't do the same for HKG-NYC, but at least on the same route to try to lure SQ pax away?
