Yes, at Andaz 5th Ave, PH DC, and PH Melbourne. None were removed when I questioned the charges at checkout. It doesn't seem to be common, but we rarely order al a carte (usually preferring the buffet if available), so our experience is limited.
When was PH DC stay? I was there a few weeks ago and spent more than 80 (they said at check in it was 40/person) and was told at checkout (same day as breakfast) that the charge was removed w/o any prompting. Guess this is often a YMMV
