Priority Pass allows a guest. Sounds like most of your travel is together, so whoever had the unbranded Plat would just guest in the other. Then the DL Reserve goes the other person to give them access to SkyClubs, for which the unbranded plat does not allow guests.

Based on your original question, though, it really seems like the DL Reserve is a no brainer. The companion cert books directly into the cabin you want and the lounge access/MQM are gravy on top.

What is your current rationale for two unbranded Plat cards?
