They'll let you on the plane even if you show up after boarding starts.
I'm aware but I am like many that like to be in their boarding group for the OHB space. Heck sometimes the F bins fill up by the end of SP boarding. Also, I'm used to AA which loves to start boarding early. Multiple times I've shown up at the "boarding begins" time and found them on group 6 already.
