The Hampton Inn has your normal Hampton Inn breakfast (it did a year ago when I stayed there). Not much in the way of amenities, but seemed pretty new & fresh on the inside. A rooftop patio too if I remember correctly. Lots of posts on FT about the breakfast options at the Hilton Union Square as a HH Gold. Hampton Inn has a Blue Bottle Coffee right out the back door. HI isn't in the most tourist friendly or attractive neighboorhood, but we felt safe (using common sense walking around of course). They are both about the same distance from the Powell St BART station (0.25 Miles - pretty close).
