Let me put it this way - you won't be on the DNR list as soon as both the rental company and you can reach a resolution. It does not mean you or the insurance company have to pay anything at all (That's mean you are still good even you are able to convince the rental company to drop the claim).

Also - all additional and optional coverage offered by the rental companies are charged in a rate that can handle major incidents, including total loss. So while you may be an insurable risk with your own insurance, you will not be one with the rental companies.
