Now - never. You have to submit a missing stay request and then reply with your invoice and then reply that your stay still didn't get awarded and then insist that you are indeed eligible for the stay rewards. Each step will take 9 days for a reply and each reply will be a notification that this has been forwarded to someone else or there is nothing they can do.
so no need to worry about how your options are set.

You always need to remember to check out in person and get a paper copy of your bill. Marriott won't even accept retro-claims online unless you have a copy of your bill.
