What snarky reps AmEx has nowadays. I called the retention line directly.

The rep says to me with attitude: "Oh. I see you called last year about a retention offer, as well."
I reply: "Yes, that must have been because AmEx assessed the annual fee then, too."
The rep: "There are no offers on your account. I can apply your points towards you fee, if you'd like?"

I'll call again in a week.
