Anyway I think these things will improve with time; the younger, urban, tech-savvy generation in China is generally (I presume) aware that these behaviours are frowned upon, eventually as the older generation dies off and the younger ones get more affluent and travel more the situation will change.
Or perhaps retailers and consumer product companies could find ways embrace consumer behavior like this to reduce waste.
