ok, here's the update. Everything went off smoothly. I checked 3 of my family members and they checked in a bag via the kiosk. They didn't ask for a baggage fee. They got E+, Group 1 boarding.

I then proceeded to check-in to my other flight and everything went just fine. I didn't cancel my original ticket.
