I received a 100,000 point bonus for getting the capital one venture card and charged the required $5k (actually I spent $10k). I paid the balance on the card. I then later got a refund for one of the charges ($3k for tuition), so I now have a negative $ balance on the card (-$3k) but the miles remain (approx 100,000). However, the online system will not give me any redeem options such as gift cards or anything for that matter. I am wondering if it freezes the points until you spend up to a zero balance again? Does anyone know if this is true? thanks.
