Have only recently upgraded to the Platinum card for the FHR program primariliy. It paid for itself in savings on my first use - Montage Laguna Beach.

I've got upcoming trip to Las Vegas at Venetian booked with FHR. Overall, I'm paying approximately $40 more for the 3 night stay ($640 vs $600) but with this, I get upgrade on room, 2 passes to Canyon Ranch Spa facilities ($30 value each) and free breakfast for 2 each day. Not sure how Venetian will handle breakfast, but assume a room credit of $30 to $50 per day for breakfast use.

To me, it is worth booking FHR for the extras.

I'm finding that in checking for future travel, the FHR program will get me better rates than the best rates available - so that's even better.
