Plan on heading out there in Late Dec to Early Jan.
When I quoted prices for these flights, got Fare class S (Econ Save) and on the way back Fare Class L.
1. Will it make more sense for me to pay the extra 1K HKD and bump myself to Fare class V for the MP club points? or is it not worth it?
2. Exit row seat will be requested and purchased both ways. Will I have trouble securing an exit row seat under S class fare vs V class fare?
Thanks all for your input
1. 1k HKD for 20 extra MPO points and extra AM, I would do it. Personally, I earn MPO points on average at the rate of around 10USD per point. Of course, you should take account your future travel and reset schedule. You said this trip will bump you to SL after the round-trip is completed. Will the extra 20 MPO points take you to SL after the outbound, or do you still need to wait for the inbound? If you will not be bumped to SL until after inbound anyway, the extra 20 MPO points will be lost when your membership is reset. In that case, I would not do it.
2. You can purchase exit row with S or V class ticket, but it will cost more for an S class ticket. Perhaps you can take that price differential into consideration as well. I believe it's 1400HKD for S class and 1170HKD for V class.
