A word of warning on the shopping portal to those that won’t have used it, and this isn’t unique to BA, it’s certainly repeated on the Virgin version. Not all shops are reliable. Hilton are repeat offenders for cancelling points for no or unexplained issues, often many months after they’re awarded. I’ve Personally also had issues with Dell, and with Microsoft although the later fixed it almost immediately when I questioned it. I’ve found Apple 100% reliable. If you use it for Hotels the points will not post for 90 to 120 days after the stay is complete. So hotels definitely not a quick means to points. If hotels.com and you also collect reward nights they’ll give lower Avios/FC miles than they say, but in fairness I’ve found they do post reliably(ish). If you don’t count on individual awards delivering, it’s a good source of easy Avios and perfect for people trying to keep Avios alive in spells of no flying, but any one transaction can be problematic.
