For this reason, I've almost stopped playing the mileage game in China.
Here's a typical example on my SHA-NNG route:
Y500 = 0 miles
Y800 = 50% miles
Y1000 = 80% miles
Y1600 = 100% miles
So, the difference between the 0 miles fare and full fare is Y1100 (or about $200). 900 UA miles are not worth $200, no matter who is paying.
