I'll be on HND-LHR in First next year, as a pair, which is an all-day flight, in essence.

The cabin is totally open and I'm trying to decide whether there are any distinct or nuanced benefits to selecting a particular middle pair of seats.

Detailed advice appreciated. We're trying to sit away from the assigned baby bassinet seat in the instance of, well, a might-be-better-behaved-than-adults-but-might-not-be bambino.

Cheers
I asked a similar question for a (LGW) 777 and was advised to go for 2E and 2F -I've no comment as we haven't flown yet so don't know if that helps ! The main reasoning given was that galley noise and forward the toilet can be annoying if you are sat in 1E and 1F.
