I met him on an AA flight in March. Absolutely lovely guy, queued up with everyone else, no DYKWIA attitude. That guitar is his main tool of his trade, unique. Looks like a stroppy gate agent said it had to be checked.
I recall reading he used to work in an airport, doing some kind of aircraft maintenance, so I suspect he actually has a lot of respect for the various professions involved in air travel.
