As of today there is no I on any of BR flights on 10/1.

10/8 is still showing I available even after clearing my flight. I didn’t check Z for 10/8 since as soon as I (me) saw I class has inventory I applied for it immediately.

I called BR on 9/24 and talked to Agent both confirmed Z still shows 2. This was after my failed attempt on upgrading on BR7.

I am fully aware that once after SAUA clear the ticket will show Z now (several years ago- it showed I- I can’t remember when the change was made). So that gave people impression that once Z has space it would automatically clear.

I have been checking SFO to TPE since last Thursday, nothing showed up until Sunday (7 day before departure) despite Z was available on daily basis. There was no I until Sunday. I just couldn’t get ticket changed in time to grab it.

My point is that before buying B class. Check for I- because it’s the only way to guarantee immediate clear on upgrade. Z availability doesn’t guarantee you. One thing I also learned, you can make reservation without issuing ticket. Apply for upgrade, if that cleared then the agent can issue ticket for you. But it has to be done very quickly. That was how I avoided paying last two changes. But I did paid change once.

I played with this for entire day on Monday. It’s a lot of work for popular route. Suggestion is to go find an agent that is willing to continuously changing and help you.
