Can confirm first hand that you don't need to let your friend use the phone. I got my phone on the card and fill out the unlock form about a day later. Waited for unlock confirmation before swapping out the at&t sim and powering on the phone. Whole process took about 4-5 days before I started to use the phone.
Planning to use a friend's AT&T account for the $650 credit and was hoping to confirm some details:
1. Does the phone need to be shipped to the AT&T account holder?
2. Assuming adding another line is unnecessary, did this disrupt their current usage in any way?
I went through opening an AT&T account two years ago (for my own card's credit) and closing after 15 days and it was a massive hassle with AT&T..TIA
