2 ansett's is confusing, though it gets more so. Qantas actually own Ansett New Zealand, not Ansett, though the airline carries the Ansett name. It is a confusing situation, yes, but once upon a time Ansett Australia used to own Ansett New Zealand. Then they teamed up with Air New Zealand, who bought into Ansett NZ, which was bought recently by Qantas. from my understanding the name remains Ansett NZ because the brand name is now recognised in New zealand.
